It's cold and snowy and the dogs have been out playing in it. Shivers all around. Gibbs is looking very nice. Took Connor and him to class and was actually able to move them around the ring! They could move before - I couldn't. Things are going well. Maybe we can show them in February or March. Cross fingers. Getting ready for Thanksgiving. I'm thankful for my family and all of the dogs - and the cat, too.

The puppies are a year old today. JJ went oversize (the day he was born!) and is in a wonderful pet home. Connor, Grace, Whiskey and Kelley are turning out very nicely, although I think Whiskey and Kelley are too small and need to go to good homes. Whiskey is 14 1/2" and Kelley is 13 3/4". Still haven't made the decision. They are both really pretty. Ellie went to the bridge in January. She was only 9.

We helped Cory to the Rainbow Bridge on December 5. He meant so much to us. It's the end of an era. What a wonderful, funny, dignified little dog. He was never happier than when laying next to someone on the couch. All of the dogs that we have now, except for Gibbs, are related to him. The puppies are his great-grandkids and Navy, their father, is a great, great-grandson. We've lost 5 dogs this year; Star - the last puppy that my husband Dan held the week before he died in 2000, (I gave her to my dad, who died in July), Garrett, Raya, Gabby and now Cory. I know it's inevitable and we have older dogs along with the new ones, but please, let 2015 be a better year!!

Evan and Cameron are learning how to show the puppies. They are so cute with all of the puppies and Gibbs. They will be my handlers when Anne and Debbie can't show. The puppies are following right along and yesterday we worked on footwork. Cam especially is really excited. I guess it's instant gratification.

My dad passed away today. Yesterday two of the grandsons and I took Grace and Whiskey over to Dad and Mom's house so that Dad could pet them. Whiskey laid on the bed next to Dad and Dad put his hand on him. They both fell asleep like that. I think it made Dad happy. Oh weary warrior, thank you so much for all that you did for us and for our country. You are greatly loved and greatly missed.

Moving Day

My dog runs, kennel room and house were overflowing with strange creatures this past week.

My daughter and son-in-law, Jenni & Tom Kerr and their three children, Thomas, Owen & Breanna moved to Orlando, Florida on June 19th of this month.

They own a one year-old Great Dane, two Afghans, three Pomeranians and two cats – big cats. All of the dogs are registered therapy dogs.

The movers came on Tuesday. Jenni delivered Marty, the Great Dane, Velvet & Blade, the Afghans and Kisses, Riot and William, the Pomeranians to my house on Monday night.

Marty’s shoulder is as high as the kitchen counter. He is as big as 1/3 of my kitchen. He and Blade played on the patio and I swear it was like dinosaurs fighting. I finally had to separate them into different runs. Of course that put Blade in with the three Pomeranians who hid under tables and the glider. Blade really likes to play.

Fortunately, I had Thomas, Owen and Breanna, PLUS Cameron & Evan Goben – the other two grandkids – to help with this menagerie. I haven’t picked up that much poop since I cleaned out horse stalls. Thomas and Owen helped a lot. Evan really liked the Poms. He played with them in the kitchen and the yard a lot.

Did I mention that all the kids spent Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at my house? We went to Red Rocks on Monday and had a picnic of pop and hot peanut butter and jelly sandwiches – just like the ones that I had when I was a kid on trips to Red Rocks.

Velvet is 13 and a really old lady. I’ve got my mother and dad’s 13 year-old sheltie (they are too frail to care for her any more. I whelped her and gave her to them in 2000) in the kitchen. Velvet walked into the kitchen, went right over to Star’s rug, turned a circle and laid down. Star literally looked at her, looked at me, walked over and laid down next to her. I went and got another rug.

The cats came on Tuesday night. One each in a two hundred crate with a litter box and water. Thank goodness I had extra crates. They meowed all night. Marty would “Woof” really deep about every 45 minutes to an hour. I’m sure the neighbors were thrilled and even more thrilled when they left on Wednesday. So were MY dogs.

I’m sad L that the kids and grandkids have gone to Florida, but they are on a grand new adventure.J Good luck you guys!
